As LDC partners build out work in history/social studies, three openings to deeper work may deserve attention. Can we add tasks and modules that: (1) Invite students to research compelling questions and seek solutions to social problems; (2) Reference study texts that aren’t just words, but include maps and other geographical representations and relevant data shown in varied charts and tables; and (3) Add civic participation steps after the writing process, using the extension element of LDC task design and perhaps supporting it with an added skills cluster?
