How does LDC work in Kindergarten? This was the challenge we accepted and wanted to share at the SREB conference this summer. In my role as literacy consultant at IU13 (an education service agency in Pennsylvania), I coached a team of three Kindergarten teachers through designing and implementing their first two modules with five- and six-year-olds. And the results were exciting! We found that even the youngest students could engage in reading, writing, and critical thinking through LDC.
